Dubai International Airport (DXB) is preparing for one of its busiest travel periods of the year, with nearly three million passengers expected to pass through its terminals during the first half of July as the summer holiday season gathers momentum.

The airport said the peak travel period will begin on July 2 as residents depart for summer vacations, with passenger traffic expected to exceed 200,000 daily throughout the fortnight. July 12 is projected to be the busiest day, when more than 225,000 guests are expected to travel through the airport. Around half of all passengers during the period will be transfer travellers, underscoring Dubai’s position as one of the world’s leading global aviation hubs.

To enhance the passenger experience, Dubai Airports has introduced the “I Heart DXB” interactive installation at Concourse B in Terminal 3. Located near Gate B28, the attraction invites departing and transit passengers to upload selfies that become part of a growing digital mosaic in the colours of the UAE flag, symbolising the diverse community passing through the airport. Travellers can also leave handwritten messages celebrating Dubai, while participating airport retailers are offering exclusive rewards and souvenir promotions linked to the experience.

In preparation for the travel surge, Dubai Airports, working alongside its oneDXB partners, has activated its summer readiness plan to ensure smooth, safe and efficient airport operations. Passengers are encouraged to arrive no more than three hours before departure, complete online check-in where available and ensure they have all required travel documents before heading to the airport.

Emirates passengers can also take advantage of the airline’s home, city and self-service check-in facilities, while families travelling with children aged 12 years and above can use Smart Gates to speed up immigration clearance.

Dubai Airports also reminded travellers that spare batteries and power banks must be carried in hand luggage only. Additional support remains available for People of Determination through dedicated accessibility routes, trained staff, the Sunflower Lanyard programme and an Assisted Travel Lounge in Terminal 2. Passengers can also navigate the airport more easily using DXB Express Maps, a digital wayfinding platform accessible via QR code that provides real-time directions and gate information.
