Nigerian airline, ValueJet, is set to begin direct flight operations between Lagos and Banjul, The Gambia, starting Thursday, May 15, 2025. The new route marks a strategic expansion of the carrier’s West African network, aimed at boosting regional trade, tourism, and connectivity.

According to the airline’s Managing Director and Accountable Manager, Capt. Omololu Majekodunmi, the Lagos–Banjul service will operate twice weekly. Outbound flights from Lagos will depart at 9:00 p.m. on Thursdays and Sundays, arriving in Banjul at 11:30 p.m. Return flights from Banjul will take off at 12:30 a.m. on Mondays and Fridays, landing in Lagos at 5:00 a.m. All operations will be conducted from the new terminal at Murtala Muhammed International Airport.

Majekodunmi described the launch as a significant milestone in ValueJet’s mission to make intra-African travel more accessible. “We are proud to bridge distances and foster closer economic and cultural ties between Nigeria, The Gambia, and the broader West African region,” he said.

He added that the route would not only support The Gambia’s growing tourism sector but also facilitate business and investment opportunities across both nations.

With tickets already available on the airline’s website, the new service underscores ValueJet’s commitment to providing safe, reliable, and convenient air travel, while laying the foundation for future expansions to other West African destinations.
