Festus Keyamo, Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, has declared the Ekiti State Agro-Allied International Cargo Airport in Ado-Ekiti ready for full commercial operations.
Speaking on Tuesday after inspecting the airport facilities alongside Governor Biodun Oyebanji and senior officials, Keyamo confirmed that the airport is 99.5% complete. He highlighted its international-standard runway and expansive apron capable of accommodating multiple 737 narrow-body aircraft.
“The Ekiti Agro-Allied International Cargo Airport is ready for the world,” the Minister said. “It has all the basic requirements for operation, including a fire station, control tower, navigational equipment, and security infrastructure. I landed here myself to demonstrate the safety and readiness of the facilities. Commercial airlines will begin operations very soon.”

Keyamo commended Governor Oyebanji for his dedication and resources invested in completing the project, as well as the support from Aare Afe Babalola and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Governor Oyebanji expressed gratitude for the Federal Government’s assistance, noting that the airport reflects the alignment of his administration’s vision with that of his predecessor, Kayode Fayemi, who initiated the project. “This airport is one of the many gains of continuity,” the Governor said, emphasizing its potential to transform Ekiti into a key player in Nigeria’s agro-export strategy.
The Ekiti Agro-Allied International Cargo Airport is strategically positioned to provide seamless access to international markets for farmers and exporters, boosting socio-economic development in the state and beyond. The recent approval by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) for non-schedule passenger operations marks a significant step toward achieving this vision.
