The Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT), Zaria, has graduated 40 aviation professionals after successfully completing specialised training in Aeronautical Mobile Service (AMS) and Firefighter Initial Course programmes, reinforcing efforts to build technical capacity for Nigeria’s aviation industry.
The graduates comprise 21 participants from Aeronautical Mobile Service Course (AMS-08) and 19 participants from Firefighter Initial Course (FFIC-02), who completed their training during a ceremony held at the college’s auditorium.
Declaring the ceremony open, the Dean of the Air Traffic Services Communication School, Mallam Nasiru Mu’azu, congratulated the participants and urged them to apply the knowledge and practical skills acquired during the training in their respective organisations to enhance safety and operational efficiency.
Presenting the appraisal for the Aeronautical Mobile Service course, instructor Agbelusi Abiodun said the programme ran from April 28 to July 17 and comprised 21 participants, including 20 sponsored by the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) and one sponsored by NCAT. He explained that the course covered both data and communication modules, with all participants successfully passing their examinations.
The Firefighter Initial Course coordinator, Abdullahi Aliyu, said the six-week programme, which commenced on June 8 and concluded on July 17, trained 19 participants, comprising 10 personnel from Bauchi Airport and nine from NCAT. He confirmed that all participants met the graduation requirements after successfully completing the programme.
Representing the Rector and Chief Executive of NCAT, the Deputy Rector (Academic), Capt. Jim Hassan, formally declared the participants graduates of the institution, noting that the college remains committed to producing highly skilled aviation professionals capable of meeting industry standards.
He congratulated the graduates and urged them to uphold professionalism, discipline and the highest safety standards as they return to their respective duty stations.
The ceremony also featured awards for outstanding performance in the AMS course. Mrs. Maiwada emerged as the Best Graduating Student, while Mr. Salisu and Mr. Ugbede received awards as the second and third best graduating students respectively. Mr. Bello Oluwafemi was recognised as the Most Well-Behaved Student.
The event was attended by representatives of NAMA, Bauchi Airport, NCAT management and other aviation stakeholders, who commended the college’s continued role in developing skilled manpower for Nigeria’s aviation sector.
