The Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) will close the existing car park at Terminal 3 of Accra International Airport from July 20, 2026, as construction begins on a seven-storey multi-purpose parking facility and airport hotel designed to expand capacity and support future passenger growth.
In a statement, GACL said the closure will affect airport users, visitors and other stakeholders as work commences on the major infrastructure project, which forms part of the company’s long-term plan to modernise facilities at Ghana’s busiest international gateway.
To minimise disruption during the construction period, the airport operator has completed the Terminal 3 Car Park Annex, which will serve as the temporary parking area. The new facility has capacity for more than 600 vehicles and will remain available to passengers, airport staff and visitors throughout the redevelopment.
GACL said parking attendants will be deployed at the annex to assist motorists and ensure the smooth movement of vehicles into and out of the facility during the transition.
The airport operator appealed to travellers and other airport users for their understanding and cooperation while the relocation takes effect, noting that the redevelopment will significantly improve parking capacity and introduce an integrated airport hotel complex to enhance passenger convenience and support the continued expansion of Accra International Airport.
