Air Peace has taken a significant step in its international expansion journey after securing regulatory approval from Brazil’s National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) to operate scheduled passenger, cargo and mail services to and from the South American nation.
The approval, granted through ANAC Ordinance No. 19.449/2026, authorises the Nigerian carrier to offer regular services between Brazil and destinations across its growing network, paving the way for direct air connectivity between Nigeria and Brazil by a Nigerian airline.
The development represents a major milestone in Air Peace’s ambition to strengthen its global footprint and expand its presence beyond Africa. Direct flights between the two countries are expected to dramatically reduce travel times, cutting journeys that currently require multiple connections and can take close to two days to a direct flight of about seven hours.
Industry stakeholders have long identified direct Nigeria-Brazil air links as a missing component in the relationship between both countries, given their strong historical, cultural and commercial ties. The proposed service is expected to facilitate tourism, business travel, trade and people-to-people exchanges while creating new opportunities for economic cooperation.
The Brazilian approval comes as Air Peace accelerates plans to broaden its international network. The airline is currently pursuing approvals for scheduled operations to Toronto and New York, while preparations are also advancing for the resumption of services to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, and Guangzhou, China.
In Europe, the carrier is finalising arrangements to launch three weekly flights to Manchester, further strengthening its long-haul operations and expanding travel options for passengers across its network.
Beyond passenger services, the Brazil route is expected to enhance cargo connectivity between West Africa and South America. Improved air links could support growing trade volumes, provide faster logistics solutions and open new export opportunities for businesses operating in both regions.
Air Peace has steadily expanded its international reach in recent years, with services to London and Barbados complementing its extensive domestic network and growing presence across West Africa. The airline currently serves destinations including Accra, Freetown, Dakar, Banjul, Monrovia and Abidjan.
The carrier is also preparing to launch new regional services to Douala, Libreville, Bamako and Conakry, further reinforcing its strategy of connecting key commercial and economic centres across the continent.
With regulatory approval now secured in Brazil and several new international destinations under consideration, Air Peace continues to strengthen its position as one of Africa’s fastest-growing airlines. The latest development underscores the carrier’s commitment to expanding global connectivity while advancing Nigeria’s role as a gateway between Africa and the wider world.
