Air Sierra Leone has opened ticket sales ahead of its planned resumption of scheduled services in October 2026, marking another step in the airline’s efforts to restore connectivity between West Africa and the United Kingdom.

Passengers can now make reservations through the airline’s official website, authorised travel agencies or directly at its office. The carrier is encouraging travellers to book early as it prepares to resume operations for the winter season.

The planned network includes services linking Freetown and Banjul with London, alongside regional routes connecting Sierra Leone with other West African destinations.

Sukh Mann, Group Chief Operating Officer of XeJet Limited and technical partner to Air Sierra Leone, said the airline had completed the necessary approval processes to reinstate its key international markets, particularly the Freetown-London and Banjul-London routes.

“It was very important for Air Sierra Leone to reinstate these key markets, particularly Freetown-London and Banjul-London. We have completed the necessary approval processes following the grounding of Ascend Airways,” Mann said.

He disclosed that Air Sierra Leone had also appointed a new partner airline to support its operations, although the identity of the partner will be announced at a later date.

The airline is expected to offer an enhanced product when it returns to the international market, with larger aircraft planned for key routes. According to Mann, passengers can also expect improvements to the onboard experience, including in-flight entertainment and a premium economy cabin.

The planned deployment of larger aircraft could increase capacity on the important West Africa-UK market while giving passengers more travel options during the winter season.

Air Sierra Leone currently promotes connections involving Freetown, London Gatwick, Lagos and Banjul, in addition to regional services linking Freetown with Lagos and The Gambia.

The reopening of ticket sales provides an early indication of the airline’s preparations for its return to scheduled operations after previous disruptions involving its operating arrangements.

As it prepares for the October resumption, the airline will face the challenge of maintaining reliable schedules and consistent service delivery, particularly on its long-haul routes. Sustained operational performance will be important to rebuilding passenger confidence and strengthening its position in the competitive West African aviation market.

Air Sierra Leone said its focus remains on providing safe, reliable and seamless services while strengthening air connectivity between Sierra Leone, The Gambia, the United Kingdom and other destinations across the region.
