The government of Lagos State under the leadership of Babajide Sanwo-Olu has received approval for the construction of an ultramodern international airport in the Lekki-Epe axis of the state.
The minister of aviation, Hadi Sirika delivered the approval letter to the governor on the first day of the annual Lagos Economic Summit, an international economic and developmental investment forum tagged ‘Ehingbeti’.
While speaking, the Minister attested to the geometrical increase in the population of Lagos as it manifests in the rapid expansion to the most distant corners of all the boundaries of Lagos State, noting that the Lekki airport is the appropriate step in the right direction
He said the need for an airport in that part of Lagos was too obvious to be ignored hence the federal government had no cause worth so-ever, to delay the approval.
The proposed airport is expected to cater to a minimum of five million people yearly and will be constructed in partnership with local and foreign investors.
