ValueJet Airlines has expanded its route network with the introduction of new domestic and regional services aimed at improving connectivity, boosting passenger convenience, and strengthening economic integration across West Africa.
The airline announced that it will commence daily flights between Owerri and Abuja from May 18, 2026, creating a direct air link between Nigeria’s South-East region and the Federal Capital Territory. The service is expected to cater to increasing demand from business travellers, government officials, students, families, and leisure passengers seeking faster and more reliable transportation between both cities.
According to the airline, the addition of the Owerri–Abuja route forms part of its broader strategy to improve accessibility across Nigeria while reinforcing its growing domestic network through efficient and customer-focused operations.
In further expansion of its regional footprint, ValueJet will also begin thrice-weekly flights between Accra, Ghana, and Banjul, The Gambia, from May 14, 2026. The service will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays, providing travellers with direct connectivity between the two West African cities and reducing the need for multiple stopovers.
The airline said the Accra–Banjul route is designed to support regional mobility, tourism, trade, and economic cooperation within West Africa, while also offering passengers a more seamless travel experience.
Speaking on the development, ValueJet Managing Director, Captain Omololu Majekodunmi, said the new routes align with the airline’s long-term vision of connecting more African cities while maintaining high standards of safety, efficiency, and service delivery.
“These new routes represent another important step in our mission to make air travel more accessible and convenient for our passengers. We remain committed to expanding our network strategically and providing reliable flight services that meet the evolving needs of travellers within Nigeria and across the West African region,” he said.
Over the years, ValueJet has continued to strengthen its position within the aviation industry through steady route expansion, customer-focused operations, and consistent service delivery.
The airline currently operates across several domestic and regional destinations, including Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, Jos, Owerri, Calabar, Kano, Cotonou, Accra, Banjul, and Gateway International Airport, Iperu.
