United Nigeria Airlines (UNA) has expanded its global market reach following its successful integration with the Amadeus Global Distribution System (GDS), enabling travel agencies, corporate travel managers and booking platforms worldwide to access and sell the airline’s services in real time.

The development marks a significant milestone in the carrier’s commercial growth strategy, strengthening its distribution capabilities and positioning it to compete more effectively in both domestic and regional markets.

With the Amadeus platform now live, United Nigeria Airlines’ flight schedules, fares and inventory are available to hundreds of thousands of travel agencies and travel partners across the world, providing broader visibility for the airline and easier access for customers booking through global travel networks.

Chief Commercial Officer of United Nigeria Airlines, Adedayo Olawuyi, described the integration as a transformative step in the airline’s evolution, noting that it aligns with the carrier’s commitment to making its services more accessible to both domestic and international travellers.

According to him, the partnership enhances customer convenience while supporting the airline’s ambition to scale distribution, deepen market penetration and improve the overall booking experience through real-time inventory access and fare management capabilities.

The GDS integration comes as United Nigeria Airlines continues to expand its operational capacity. The airline has recently added Boeing 737-800 Next Generation aircraft to its fleet, with another aircraft expected to join operations as part of efforts to meet rising passenger demand and improve service reliability.

The carrier also disclosed that it is evaluating opportunities for regional expansion and strategic partnerships aimed at strengthening connectivity and supporting sustainable long-term growth.

Speaking during the launch in Lagos, Amadeus Regional General Manager, Yaan Gilbert, said the agreement reflects the company’s commitment to supporting the growth and modernisation of Africa’s aviation industry through technology-driven solutions.

Gilbert noted that the partnership immediately elevates United Nigeria Airlines’ visibility within the global travel ecosystem, allowing travel professionals worldwide to access the airline’s inventory seamlessly through the Amadeus network.

He added that the collaboration supports broader efforts to connect African carriers to international markets while helping airlines leverage modern distribution technology to expand revenue opportunities and improve customer service.

Industry stakeholders believe the integration will enhance United Nigeria Airlines’ competitiveness by increasing its exposure to global travellers and corporate clients, while supporting its ongoing fleet expansion and network development plans.

As the airline continues to grow its operations, the Amadeus partnership is expected to play a key role in driving passenger traffic, strengthening sales channels and reinforcing its position as one of Nigeria’s leading carriers.
