TAAG Angola Airlines has deployed its Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner on the Luanda–Lisbon route, marking the aircraft’s first commercial operation on the airline’s European network and another milestone in its long-haul fleet modernisation programme.
The introduction follows the successful certification of the aircraft by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), enabling TAAG to strengthen capacity on its flagship intercontinental route while meeting growing travel demand between Angola and Portugal.
During the initial phase of operations, the Boeing 787-10 will operate two weekly flights between Luanda and Lisbon, departing Dr. António Agostinho Neto International Airport on Friday and Saturday evenings, with return services from Humberto Delgado Airport in Lisbon on Saturday and Sunday mornings.
Lisbon remains TAAG’s busiest long-haul destination, consistently recording some of the airline’s highest passenger load factors. Demand on the route continues to be driven by strong economic, business, institutional and cultural ties between Angola and Portugal, as well as travel for tourism and visits to family and friends.
Configured with 367 seats, including 24 in Business Class and 343 in Economy Class, the Boeing 787-10 introduces a range of passenger-focused enhancements. Every seat is equipped with a next-generation in-flight entertainment system, while the Business Class cabin features fully lie-flat seats designed to provide greater comfort, privacy and rest on long-haul journeys.
The deployment forms part of TAAG’s broader strategy to renew its fleet with more modern and fuel-efficient aircraft while expanding Angola’s international connectivity. With the addition of the Boeing 787-10 to the Lisbon service, the Dreamliner family now operates TAAG flights to Europe, Asia and the Americas, reinforcing the airline’s role in supporting trade, tourism, investment and economic development through improved global connectivity.
