The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has announced the temporary closure of Runway 18R/36L at Murtala Muhammed Airport (MMA), Lagos, to facilitate essential rehabilitation work.
According to a statement signed by FAAN’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Mrs. Obiageli Orah, the closure will take place from 03:00 hours on March 3, 2025, to 23:59 hours on March 4, 2025. The rehabilitation focuses on the asphalt phase at the A2 Taxiway-link, a crucial component of the runway’s maintenance to ensure safety and operational efficiency at Nigeria’s busiest international airport.
FAAN has assured passengers and airline operators that flight operations will not be disrupted during this period, as all flights will be redirected to the alternative Runway 18L/36R.
The authority reaffirmed its commitment to upholding safety, security, and passenger comfort while urging all stakeholders to comply with the necessary operational adjustments during the closure.
