Aero Contractors has suspended its Customer Service Week activities and paid a condolence visit to the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) following the October 5 aircraft crash in Igbokoda, Ondo State, which claimed the lives of military personnel and other occupants.

The airline’s delegation visited the NAF Base along Airport Road, Lagos, on Wednesday to express solidarity with the Chief of the Air Staff, officers and personnel of the service, as well as the families, friends and colleagues of those who died in the crash involving an NAF ATR-42 aircraft.

Speaking during the visit, Aero Contractors Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Capt. Ado Sanusi, described the incident as a painful loss for the affected families, the military, the aviation industry and the country.

He expressed particular concern for the children and families left behind, offering prayers for strength and comfort as they cope with the loss of their loved ones.

“This is an extremely painful moment for the Nigerian Air Force, for the families affected and indeed for our entire aviation community and nation,” Sanusi said.

He added that the airline stood with the bereaved families and the Air Force during the period of mourning.

Aero Contractors said its decision to suspend Customer Service Week activities reflected its belief that service in the aviation industry extends beyond customer relations, particularly during periods of national tragedy.

The airline noted that aviation organisations must demonstrate solidarity not only during moments of achievement but also when the industry suffers significant losses.

“Going the extra mile is not only about how we serve our customers. It is also about showing up, standing with one another and being present when it matters most,” the airline said.

The company also paid tribute to the NAF personnel who died, recognising their professionalism, dedication and service to Nigeria. It extended its condolences to the Chief of the Air Staff, officers, airmen and airwomen of the service, and all those affected by the tragedy.

The crash occurred on October 5 when the military aircraft went down in a swampy area near Igbokoda, Ondo State, during a flight from Benin to Lagos. The incident has prompted recovery operations and investigations into the circumstances surrounding the accident.

The Federal Government has declared three days of national mourning in honour of the victims.

Aero Contractors said it remained in solidarity with the Nigerian Air Force and the wider aviation community, describing unity and compassion as essential in helping those affected navigate the aftermath of the tragedy.
