Ibom Air has announced that all its flight operations will be relocated to the newly completed international terminal at Victor Attah International Airport, Uyo, effective June 14, 2026, marking a major milestone in the airline’s drive to enhance passenger experience and operational efficiency.

The airline disclosed the development in a statement signed by its Group Manager, Marketing and Communication, Aniekan Essienette, who advised passengers to use the new terminal for all departures and arrivals from the effective date.

According to the airline, the ultramodern facility is equipped with advanced infrastructure designed to provide a smoother travel experience, offering improved passenger comfort, faster processing, and enhanced operational capabilities from check-in through boarding and arrival.

Essienette said the transition reflects Ibom Air’s commitment to delivering world-class service standards while supporting the continued growth of air travel through the Akwa Ibom gateway.

The relocation follows the inauguration of the Ibom International Terminal by Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno on May 3, 2026. The facility commenced operations with a symbolic inaugural flight to Accra, Ghana, underscoring the state’s ambition to position itself as a major aviation, business and tourism hub in West Africa.

Speaking at the inauguration, Ibom Air Chief Executive Officer, George Uriesi, described the terminal as a first-of-its-kind facility in Nigeria, designed to facilitate seamless domestic-to-international, international-to-domestic and international-to-international passenger transfers.

According to him, the terminal’s design allows transit passengers to connect between flights without formally entering Nigeria, similar to the operational model adopted by leading global hub airports.

“A passenger can fly from Libreville into Uyo and connect onward to Johannesburg without technically entering Nigeria. They simply transit through the terminal and continue their journey,” Uriesi explained.

He noted that the concept mirrors the passenger transfer systems used at major international airports, where travellers can move between connecting flights without passing through full immigration procedures.

Industry observers believe the facility could significantly strengthen Uyo’s position within the regional aviation network by improving connectivity, encouraging transit traffic and creating new opportunities for airlines operating across Africa.

With the commencement of operations at the new terminal, Ibom Air is expected to benefit from enhanced infrastructure that supports future route expansion while offering passengers a more seamless and efficient travel experience.

The airline urged customers to monitor its official communication channels for further travel updates and ensure they arrive at the correct terminal ahead of their scheduled flights.
