Qatar Airways is strengthening its presence across Africa with a major expansion of its regional network, announcing the resumption of flights to several destinations and increased frequencies on key African routes beginning from 16 June 2026.

As part of the expansion, the airline will resume four weekly flights to Seychelles and two weekly flights to Kigali from 16 June, while daily operations to Marrakesh will commence from 1 July 2026. The move is aimed at boosting connectivity across the continent and providing passengers with more travel options through the airline’s growing global network.

The carrier is also significantly increasing frequencies on several existing African routes to meet rising passenger demand. Flights to Alexandria will increase from three weekly services to as many as seven weekly flights, while operations to Cairo will grow from 28 to 35 weekly flights.

In Southern Africa, services to Cape Town will increase from seven to 10 weekly flights, while flights to Dar es Salaam will rise from three weekly operations to daily services.

The airline will also boost frequencies on its combined regional routes, with Lusaka-Harare services increasing from five weekly flights to daily operations, while flights connecting Maputo and Durban will expand from four weekly flights to seven.

Further strengthening its African footprint, Qatar Airways announced the launch of three weekly flights to Port Sudan beginning from 2 July 2026. The new service is expected to improve connectivity for passengers travelling from key markets in the Middle East and Southeast Asia, including Oman and Pakistan, through Hamad International Airport.

The Port Sudan service will operate every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, with Flight QR1319 departing Doha at 09:00 and arriving in Port Sudan at 11:00, while the return Flight QR1320 will depart Port Sudan at 12:25 and arrive in Doha at 16:20.

According to the airline, the latest expansion reflects its continued commitment to rebuilding and strengthening its global network, which now spans more than 160 destinations worldwide. Qatar Airways said the additional services are designed to balance sustainable growth with rising demand for convenient travel connectivity and international trade links across Africa and beyond.

Passengers can make bookings through the airline’s official website, Qatar Airways, or via the Qatar Airways mobile application.
