The Nigerian Aviation Handling Company PLC (NAHCO aviance) has announced the appointment of Mr. Olumuyiwa Olumekun as the Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer (GMD/CEO), effective January 1, 2025. This appointment follows the retirement of Mr. Indranil Gupta, whose tenure concluded on December 31, 2024.
In a notice to the Nigerian Exchange (NGX) dated December 27, 2024, the Company Secretary, Mr. Bello Abdullahi, confirmed the board’s approval of Olumekun’s appointment. The announcement also acknowledged Gupta’s retirement, marking the end of a successful tenure that contributed significantly to NAHCO’s growth.
A seasoned executive with over three decades of leadership experience across various industries, Olumekun is no stranger to NAHCO. He previously served as Group Executive Director, Corporate Services, and Acting Managing Director between August 2021 and February 2022. Since his retirement from an active role in 2022, Olumekun has continued to contribute to NAHCO’s growth as a Non-Executive Director on the boards of its subsidiaries, including NAHCO Free Trade Zone, NAHCO Commodities Limited, and NAHCO Logistics.
Olumekun holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Ibadan and is an alumnus of the Lagos Business School, where he completed the Chief Executive and Advanced Management Programmes. Before joining NAHCO, he spent 23 years at Red Star Express PLC (FedEx), retiring as Executive Director in 2015.
His vast experience and visionary leadership are expected to drive NAHCO’s next phase of growth, ensuring the company remains a key player in Nigeria’s aviation handling industry.
