In a strong show of its commitment to talent development and career growth, Air Peace has promoted two Senior First Officers—Obinna Okeke and Adedamola Adeoye—to Captains on its Boeing 737 fleet.

The milestone event was held at the airline’s corporate headquarters in Lagos and attended by top management, including Chairman and CEO Dr. Allen Ifechukwu Onyema, Chief Operating Officer Mrs. Oluwatoyin Olajide, and Director of Flight Operations Capt. Augustin Kamano. Also present were Embraer E195-E2 Captain Callistus Ifeanyi and family members of the newly promoted Captains.

Capt. Kamano opened the ceremony by recounting the pilots’ journeys, highlighting their discipline, over 4,000 hours logged on the Boeing 737, and rigorous training as key qualifications for the captaincy.

Chairman Onyema and COO Olajide performed the ceremonial decoration, officially transitioning the officers to their new roles. Capt. Adeoye, who joined the airline in 2016, and Capt. Okeke, who came on board in 2018, described the moment as a dream fulfilled.

In his remarks, Dr. Onyema congratulated the new captains, praising their discipline and acknowledging the role of their trainers. He emphasized Air Peace’s strict safety culture, stating, “In Air Peace, we don’t need heroes—we need sound judgment. Follow the safety manuals. Your families need you alive.”

He further encouraged the captains to see this achievement as the beginning of greater responsibilities. “The sky is not your limit; it’s your foundation. Lead with purpose—for the airline, your families, and Nigeria.”

This promotion underscores Air Peace’s commitment to being a pilot-centric airline—building not only air connectivity but also aviators’ careers. As the airline expands its route network and bolsters its long-haul fleet with Boeing 777 aircraft, the move aligns with its mission to offer world-class, safe air travel while nurturing Nigerian aviation talent.
