The Nigeria Aviation Hall of Fame (NAHF) and Bi-Courtney Aviation Services Limited (BASL), operators of Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal 2 (MMA2), Lagos, have entered into a partnership to preserve Nigeria’s aviation history and recognise the contributions of industry pioneers.
The two organisations formalised the partnership with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding at BASL’s headquarters in Lagos, ahead of the maiden induction ceremony of the Nigeria Aviation Hall of Fame.
Under the agreement, the organisations will jointly host and manage the NAHF Montage, a permanent wall of honour to be installed at MMA2. The display will feature photographs, profiles and citations of distinguished aviators whose careers and contributions have helped shape the Nigerian aviation industry.
BASL will provide the space, security and maintenance for the montage, while NAHF will oversee content curation, periodic updates and the induction process.
The partnership is expected to make aviation heritage more visible to the millions of passengers who pass through MMA2 while also providing an educational platform for industry professionals and young Nigerians interested in aviation careers.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, NAHF co-founder and aviation journalist, Wole Shadare, said the initiative was designed to ensure that individuals who contributed significantly to the development of the sector are recognised.
“For over 25 years I have reported on this sector and seen many heroes retire without recognition. The Nigeria Aviation Hall of Fame is our way of saying thank you while we are still here to clap for them,” Shadare said.
Another co-founder, Gboyega Adeoye, said the initiative was aimed at preserving the history and values of the aviation industry while inspiring the next generation.
“This is about history, values, and inspiring young Nigerians coming into aviation. We are proud that Bi-Courtney shares this vision with us,” Adeoye said.
Representing BASL at the ceremony, its Head of Marketing and Creative Services, Gbubemi Vera Aibangbee, said the installation of the montage at MMA2 would give travellers an opportunity to connect with the individuals whose achievements helped build Nigeria’s aviation industry.
“MMA2 welcomes millions of passengers yearly and now they will also be welcomed by the faces of excellence who laid the foundation for Nigerian aviation. It is truly a win-win,” Aibangbee said.
The NAHF said 18 aviators have been selected for induction based on their decades of service, integrity, leadership and contributions to the growth of the industry.
The permanent montage is scheduled to be formally unveiled at MMA2 on Friday, September 4, 2026, by the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo. The unveiling will be followed by the main induction ceremony and the launch of the Hall of Fame’s maiden publication, Aviation Achievers.
The Nigeria Aviation Hall of Fame is a non-political, non-profit initiative established to recognise excellence, document Nigeria’s aviation history and promote mentorship within the sector.
