Air Algérie is seeking specialised international Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) providers as it moves to strengthen the maintenance and operational readiness of its fleet.
Through its Aircraft Maintenance and Repair division, the Algerian national carrier has launched an international tender to identify and pre-select qualified MRO centres capable of carrying out Heavy Maintenance Visit (HMV) operations on several aircraft types.
The tender covers three key categories within Air Algérie’s fleet: the Airbus A330-200, Boeing 737-800, 737-700 and 737-600 aircraft; and ATR 72-500 and ATR 72-600 turboprops. The scope reflects the diverse requirements of the airline’s fleet, spanning long-haul aircraft, narrow-body jets and regional turboprops.
Under the tender, qualified maintenance providers can submit offers for one or more aircraft types, provided they demonstrate the technical capabilities and certifications required to perform the extensive inspections, repairs and maintenance associated with heavy checks.
Air Algérie is expected to use the process to establish a restricted pool of approved MRO providers that can support the airline’s long-term fleet maintenance requirements. Heavy maintenance checks are among the most comprehensive aircraft inspections, involving detailed examinations and, where necessary, the repair or replacement of critical components to ensure continued airworthiness.
Interested companies are required to obtain the official tender documents and may request further information from Air Algérie’s Aircraft Maintenance and Repair division. Offers must subsequently be submitted electronically in accordance with the procedures and requirements outlined in the tender notice.
The move comes as airlines across the industry place increasing emphasis on reliable access to MRO capacity amid growing fleets, longer aircraft utilisation and continued pressure on maintenance resources.
For Air Algérie, expanding its network of specialised maintenance partners will provide additional flexibility in managing heavy checks across its fleet while supporting aircraft availability, operational reliability and safety.
By bringing international MRO providers into a competitive pre-selection process, the airline is positioning its maintenance operation to meet the demands of its evolving fleet and sustain reliable service across its domestic, regional and international network.
