Radisson Hotel Group is deepening its investment in Nigeria as it surpasses 100 hotels across Africa, positioning the country as a key pillar in its long-term growth strategy on the continent.

The global hospitality group said Nigeria remains one of its priority markets, with a growing portfolio of 13 hotels in operation and development. The expansion is being driven by rising demand for premium accommodation, conferencing facilities, and business travel infrastructure, particularly in cities such as Lagos, Abuja, Yenagoa, and Aba.

As part of its pipeline, the group is advancing multiple projects across Nigeria, including the Radisson Collection Hotel in Lagos Atlantic, a high-end oceanfront development in Victoria Island, as well as new hotel and conference facilities in Yenagoa and Aba. These developments are expected to strengthen Nigeria’s position as a leading destination for business travel and events within West Africa.

The push into Nigeria comes as Radisson Hotel Group crossed the 100-hotel milestone across Africa, with a mix of operational properties and projects under development. Over the past 12 months alone, the company has signed more than 15 new hotels, adding about 2,500 rooms to its pipeline, while also entering new markets such as the Democratic Republic of Congo and Zimbabwe.

The group noted that its growth strategy is anchored on fast-tracked hotel conversions, strong local partnerships, and a focus on high-demand urban and resort destinations. Radisson Blu continues to serve as its flagship brand across Africa, while the core Radisson brand is expanding rapidly through a flexible development model that allows quicker market entry.

According to Regional Chief Development Officer, Ramsay Rankoussi, the company’s expansion in Africa is focused on deepening its presence in key markets like Nigeria and Morocco, while refining its footprint in South Africa and expanding into emerging leisure destinations. He said the group’s development pipeline is structured to deliver actual openings rather than long-term announcements, with an emphasis on speed, quality, and owner alignment.

Beyond Nigeria, Radisson is also scaling operations across North, Southern, and Central Africa, with new projects spanning Morocco, Egypt, South Africa, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. The company is also exploring opportunities in safari and resort destinations, including Zanzibar, Namibia, Botswana, and Zambia, in response to growing demand for nature-driven travel experiences.

Despite surpassing pre-pandemic travel demand levels across the continent, the group believes Africa’s hospitality sector still holds significant untapped potential, particularly in business travel, conference tourism, and leisure segments. With Nigeria at the centre of its West African strategy, Radisson’s continued expansion underscores the country’s growing importance in shaping the future of hospitality investment across Africa.
