Nigeria is taking centre stage in BWH Hotels’ African growth strategy, with the global hospitality group set to open two new properties in the country as part of its broader expansion drive across the continent.
BWH Hotels, home to WorldHotels™, Best Western® Hotels & Resorts, and SureStay® Hotels, has reaffirmed its commitment to Africa ahead of the Future Hospitality Summit (FHS) Africa 2026, scheduled to take place from March 31 to April 1, 2026. The company will be represented by Wytze van den Berg, Vice President, International Operations, alongside his team, contributing to high-level discussions on investment and growth opportunities within the region.
As part of its 2026 pipeline, BWH Hotels will launch two new properties in Nigeria: the Best Western Premier McDons Skye Hotel in Owerri and the Best Western Plus Ambience Hotel in Ikeja, Lagos. These additions underscore the company’s confidence in Nigeria’s hospitality market and its role as a key business and travel hub in West Africa.
The Best Western Premier McDons Skye Hotel in Owerri is positioned as an upscale offering, featuring a rooftop bar and restaurant with panoramic city views, premium guest rooms, a state-of-the-art fitness centre, and flexible meeting facilities equipped with advanced audiovisual technology.
In Lagos, the Best Western Plus Ambience Hotel Ikeja caters to business travellers with modern, ergonomically designed rooms, high-speed connectivity, meeting facilities, and proximity to both Murtala Muhammed International Airport and Ikeja City Mall, making it an ideal destination for corporate and transit guests.
Beyond Nigeria, BWH Hotels is witnessing increasing investor confidence across Africa, driven by improving regional stability and strong long-term tourism projections.
“Investor confidence comes with predictability. While the world is filled with uncertainties, we are seeing growing trust and confidence across many African countries,” said van den Berg. “The continent’s future tourism outlook is promising and continues to attract strong investor interest.”
The company identified Ethiopia, Tanzania, Egypt, and Morocco as high-growth markets currently experiencing significant development momentum, supported by robust project pipelines and increasing demand.
Morocco and Egypt have emerged as the fastest-growing markets within BWH Hotels’ African portfolio. Over the past year, the group has signed more than 25 new pipeline projects in Morocco and is actively advancing multiple developments in Egypt.
These markets are expected to play a central role in the company’s strategy to expand its diverse brand portfolio, spanning upscale, upper-midscale, and soft-branded luxury segments.
As BWH Hotels prepares for FHS Africa 2026, the company aims to strengthen engagement with investors, developers, and industry stakeholders, while advancing conversations around sustainable growth, brand diversification, and the future of travel across Africa.
Van den Berg noted that the summit remains a critical platform for shaping the trajectory of Africa’s hospitality industry, adding that the company looks forward to deepening partnerships and contributing to the sector’s long-term development.
With Nigeria playing a prominent role in its expansion plans, BWH Hotels is reinforcing its long-term investment strategy on the continent, aligning with Africa’s rising profile as a global tourism and business destination.
