Skyway Aviation Handling Company (SAHCO) Plc has strengthened its operational capacity with the acquisition of ultra-modern Ground Support Equipment (GSE), reinforcing its drive for efficiency, safety and improved aircraft turnaround times across its nationwide network.
The ground handling company announced that it has taken delivery of a state-of-the-art pushback tractor manufactured by Goldhofer, a globally recognised German producer of airport ground equipment. The newly acquired Goldhofer F300, powered by a robust diesel engine, is designed to service most wide-body aircraft and built with rugged materials suitable for Nigeria’s operating terrain. The equipment has already been deployed to one of SAHCO’s hub stations to enhance ramp operations and service reliability.
In addition to the pushback tractor, SAHCO has procured five Ground Power Units manufactured in France by Guinault. Each unit delivers a capacity of 45kVA on 115 volts and 28VDC, providing stable and efficient electrical power to aircraft systems while on the ground. Powered by fuel-efficient gasoline engines, the GPUs are engineered for durability, mobility and strong ramp performance, making them well-suited to modern, high-traffic airport environments.
The company said the advanced GPUs are capable of supporting most Class A aircraft and select Class B aircraft, with their compact design contributing to reduced fuel consumption and operational flexibility. The rugged construction is expected to ensure long-term reliability across diverse airport conditions.
The latest acquisition forms part of SAHCO’s ongoing investment in cutting-edge ground handling infrastructure aimed at improving safety standards, minimising aircraft turnaround time and delivering world-class service to airline partners. As the only ground handling company with operational presence at all commercially operated airports in Nigeria, SAHCO said it remains focused on setting industry benchmarks through continuous equipment upgrades and technological advancement.
