United Nigeria Airlines launches its first commercial flight service to Ekiti State today, marking a significant expansion of domestic air connectivity and a milestone for air travel in the South-West region. The inaugural flight, departing from the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, will operate into the Ekiti Agro-Allied International Airport in Ado-Ekiti.
According to the airline, Aviation and Aerospace Development Minister Olorogun Festus Keyamo (SAN) will lead a distinguished delegation of government officials, aviation stakeholders and business leaders on the maiden flight—a development that underscores the strategic importance of the new route. The airline said the decision to commence operations in Ekiti was driven by rising demand for improved mobility, as well as the state’s growing economic potential across tourism, agriculture, commerce and education.
United Nigeria Airlines stated that today’s launch aligns with its long-term network expansion strategy focused on opening underserved routes and strengthening regional accessibility.
