In a move to strengthen its aviation workforce, South Sudan has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT), Zaria. The agreement aims to bolster human capacity development in South Sudan’s aviation sector through technical training and knowledge exchange.
The collaboration was formalized during a visit by the Director General of the South Sudan Civil Aviation Authority, Hon. John Woja Eliana, who led a delegation of senior South Sudanese aviation officials to NCAT. The visit followed a directive from the President of South Sudan, Salva Kiir Mayardit, seeking international partnerships to support the growth of the nation’s aviation industry.
During their visit, the delegation toured NCAT’s advanced training facilities and interacted with the institution’s instructional staff. They expressed admiration for the cutting-edge equipment, comprehensive training programs, and the depth of expertise within the college.
Rector of NCAT, Dr. Danjuma Ismaila, welcomed the delegation and reaffirmed the college’s readiness to support South Sudan’s capacity development goals. He noted that NCAT offered tailored courses and packages designed to address specific training needs across multiple aviation disciplines.
Following the tour, both parties signed an MoU to kickstart customized training programs for South Sudanese personnel, with implementation set to begin shortly. This partnership underscores NCAT’s growing role in regional aviation development and highlights South Sudan’s commitment to building a skilled aviation workforce.
