The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has awarded an Air Operator’s Certificate (AOC) to Falcon Aerospace Limited, operating as VivaJets, marking a significant milestone in the company’s expansion. This certification enhances air travel options for passengers and strengthens VivaJets’ position as a leading business aviation provider in Africa.
An AOC is a crucial accreditation that permits an airline or charter operator to use aircraft for commercial purposes, ensuring compliance with aviation safety standards.
“We are thrilled to announce that in January 2025, the NCAA awarded us the AOC, a vital milestone in our quest to become Africa’s largest and most efficient business aviation provider,” said Chukwuerika Achum, CEO of VivaJets. “This certification from our home country further enhances our capacity to make business aviation more accessible and deliver the vital connectivity that Africa needs through seamless and efficient air transportation.”
VivaJets offers a range of services, including aircraft management, fractional ownership, and private jet charters, catering to the growing demand for business aviation across Africa. The certification comes at a time of rapid global expansion and technological innovation for the company.
Chief Operating Officer, Tejumade Salami, highlighted the airline’s growing international presence, noting its expansion into North America, Europe, and the Middle East, as well as the establishment of a Canadian office. The company has actively participated in global events such as the World Economic Forum (WEF), Africa CEO Forum (ACF), Africa Air Forces Summit, Invest in Africa Summit, and the African Investment Summit (AFIS).
“We have leveraged technology to develop digital platforms that improve access and affordability of business aviation services,” Salami added. “Now with the AOC, we continue to expand our fleet and global routes, while seeking collaborations and investments to fuel our rapid growth and international expansion.”
Africa’s private aviation sector is experiencing a surge, with a 15% increase in private jet flights over the past year. Countries like Nigeria, South Africa, and Kenya are at the forefront of this boom, as a new generation of business leaders seek seamless travel solutions.
Head of Flight Operations, Mark Adoga, reaffirmed VivaJets’ commitment to providing efficient, luxury charter services. “We continue to expand the scope and quality of our operations, ensuring top-tier service, safety, and efficiency without compromising luxury,” he said.
With its newly acquired AOC, VivaJets is poised to redefine business aviation in Africa, providing more connectivity and flexibility to travelers while solidifying its presence on the global stage.
