The Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development has announced its readiness to collaborate with the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC) to drive infrastructure development in Nigeria’s aviation sector. During a recent meeting at the ministry’s headquarters in Abuja, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mr. Festus Keyamo, SAN, underscored the importance of public-private partnerships (PPP) as a key solution for enhancing the country’s infrastructure.
Keyamo revealed plans to establish a task force dedicated to fast-tracking this collaboration, with set timelines to ensure efficient project delivery. He acknowledged the legal challenges he encountered upon taking office, noting that many litigations had been resolved. The minister further urged the ICRC to strictly follow legal procedures when executing PPP projects.
Keyamo expressed his gratitude to the ICRC for initiating the partnership and reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to advancing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda. He emphasized that modernizing the aviation sector is central to achieving national economic growth and creating a more competitive investment landscape.
Dr. Jobson Ewalefoh, Director-General of ICRC, praised the minister’s swift accomplishments in the aviation sector. He stated that the meeting aimed to forge a collaborative relationship with the ministry to address Nigeria’s infrastructure gaps. Ewalefoh emphasized that the aviation sector plays a pivotal role in the nation’s economic development, adding that PPPs are crucial to overcoming the country’s infrastructure decay. With improved infrastructure, Nigeria stands to attract more investors, further boosting the economy.
