Vice President Kashim Shettima has reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to improving the business environment for Nigeria’s aviation sector. Speaking just one week after the signing of the Cape Town Convention (CTC) Practice Directions, Shettima described the new regulations as a significant step toward easing business operations in the industry.

During a meeting with stakeholders under the Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON) at the Presidential Villa, Shettima addressed issues affecting the sector, including foreign exchange challenges and a backlog of payments with the Central Bank of Nigeria, the National Hajj Commission, and airline operators.

Air Peace CEO, Allen Onyema, highlighted the fragile nature of airline operations and called for continued government support to ensure the industry’s sustainability. He praised the recent signing of the CTC Practice Directions, noting its potential to transform Nigeria’s aviation sector by boosting connectivity and economic growth.

The Special Adviser to the President on PEBEC & Investment, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, noted that the meeting was productive and that ongoing collaboration would aim to create a more business-friendly environment for stakeholders in the aviation industry.

Also present at the meeting were key figures from Azman Air, the Central Bank of Nigeria, and the National Hajj Commission.
