Foremost Nigeria airline, Air Peace, has revealed plans to suspend flights to Johannesburg, South Africa. This suspension is expected to take effect from August 22, 2022 and will be lifted from October 8, 2022.
According to a statement signed by the management, the airline said the decision to suspend its flights was due to delayed issuance of South African visas to travelers, worsening forex crunch and the increasing cost of aviation fuel as well as its scarcity.
The airline noted that it has informed the South African Embassy in Lagos about the difficulty of obtaining the country’s visas by Nigerians which has then resulted in low passenger loads on its flights which does not make business sense.
In the statement, Air Peace said, “Passengers whose flights are affected have the option of rescheduling to fly before August 22, 2022, or from October 9, 2022. Passengers can also request a refund via callcenter@flyairpeace.com and our team will attend to it promptly. It advised passengers whose flights may have been affected by the suspension to either reschedule such flights or ask for a refund of their money ”
Apologising to passengers for the inconveniences caused, the airline is hopeful that the situation would have improved within the next 60 days, while promising to keep the flying public abreast of any new changes.
