Transcorp Hotels Plc marked the official start of the holiday season with a Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony held at the iconic Transcorp Hilton Abuja on December 3, 2024. The event, a cherished annual tradition, brought together high-profile guests, including distinguished members of the Board of Directors of Transnational Corporation Plc and United Bank for Africa (UBA). Notable attendees included Transcorp Group Chairman, Tony O. Elumelu, CFR, and President and Group CEO, Dr. Owen Omogiafo, OON.

The atmosphere was electric as guests gathered at the Fountain Area of the Hotel to witness the ceremonial lighting of the Christmas tree, a symbol of joy, unity, and the festive spirit. The tree, adorned with shimmering ornaments and twinkling lights, stood tall, illuminating the night and spreading holiday cheer.

Speaking at the event, Dupe Olusola, Managing Director/CEO of Transcorp Hotels Plc, expressed her gratitude for the support that has fuelled the company’s achievements in 2024. “It has been wonderful. It has been really, really good. And I think the first thing is that we are so grateful for everything that we have achieved this year. We work together collectively as a team, and we believe very strongly in excellence. We believe very strongly in giving our guests the best service throughout and so Christmas for us is a season to show appreciation to all of our guests. So, we always start in the first week, officially launching Christmas in Abuja, and in Nigeria. We are just grateful for such a great year. And we are also very hopeful that we are going to go into an amazing 2025.”

“This evening is not just about lighting a tree; it’s about illuminating the values that bind us—family, community, and gratitude. As we reflect on a year of growth and milestones, we are reminded that together, we can achieve extraordinary things. We are excited to welcome the holiday season and look forward to creating more unforgettable experiences for our guests and partners,” Dupe Olusola said.

The ceremony also featured captivating performances by ballet dancers from Slum to Stage, a not-for-profit organisation that creates preliminary and intermediate dance training for children and young adults, staff of Transcorp Hotels, members of the audience, local choirs and instrumentalists, creating a festive ambiance that resonated with the spirit of the season. Guests enjoyed a curated selection of holiday-themed treats and beverages, showcasing the exceptional culinary expertise of the Transcorp Hilton Abuja team.

The Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony at Transcorp Hilton Abuja not only signalled the start of the holiday celebrations but also reinforced Transcorp Hotels’ commitment to redefining hospitality. As the year draws to a close, the company looks ahead to 2025 with a renewed dedication to innovation, growth, and creating lasting memories for guests and stakeholders alike.
