Singapore’s Changi Airport has reclaimed its title as the World’s Best Airport at the 2025 World Airport Awards hosted by Skytrax. The prestigious ceremony took place on April 9, 2025, at the Passenger Terminal EXPO in Madrid, Spain. This marks the 13th time that Changi has earned this top honor, further cementing its reputation as the gold standard in global air travel.
Changi didn’t just walk away with the top accolade—it also swept several other major categories, including World’s Best Airport Dining, World’s Best Airport Washrooms (a new category introduced this year) and the Best Airport in Asia
Often considered more than just a transportation hub, Changi Airport is a destination in itself. It features:

- The Rain Vortex, the world’s largest indoor waterfall at 40 meters (about 130 feet)
- Indoor gardens, including a butterfly sanctuary
- An airport cinema, art installations, hotels, spas, and even a dinosaur-themed park
To enhance convenience and efficiency, Changi has also become one of the first airports in the world to implement passport-free immigration clearance across all terminals. Utilizing biometric authentication and automated check-in systems, travelers can now breeze through immigration in as little as 10 seconds.
With a footfall of over 80 million people in 2024, Changi Airport’s commitment to innovation, cleanliness, and customer satisfaction continues to set it apart. The airport also allows early check-ins up to 48 hours before departure, encouraging travelers to explore and enjoy the airport’s wide-ranging attractions.
The rankings are derived from a comprehensive global survey conducted by Skytrax between August 2024 and February 2025, gathering feedback from over 13 million travelers across more than 100 countries. Participants evaluated airports on a wide range of performance indicators, including Check-in and boarding efficiency, Security and immigration procedures, Transfer experiences, Shopping and dining options, Cleanliness and comfort
Qatar’s Hamad International Airport, last year’s winner and a three-time holder of the title, came in second place this year. It was also recognized for World’s Best Airport Shopping and Best Airport in the Middle East
Tokyo Haneda Airport in Japan ranked third, securing additional praise as the World’s Cleanest Airport. Seoul’s Incheon International Airport placed fourth, and Narita International Airport (Tokyo) came in fifth.
Notably, Cape Town International Airport was named Best Airport in Africa and won Best Airport Staff Service in Africa, while Taiwan Taoyuan International earned the title for World’s Best Baggage Delivery. Copenhagen Airport was recognized for having the World’s Best Airport Security Processing, and Hong Kong International Airport won the award for World’s Best Airport Immigration.
Changi Airport continues to invest heavily in future development, with more than $2 billion allocated over the next six years for service upgrades and facility enhancements. Plans are also underway for the construction of a fifth terminal, expected to open in the 2030s, to accommodate growing passenger traffic and ensure the airport remains a global leader in aviation excellence.
With this year’s achievements and forward-looking plans, Singapore Changi Airport remains not only a hub for travel but a symbol of what the future of aviation can be.
