As part of the Strategic Framework Agreement (SPF) Kenya Airways and South African Airways (SAA) signed in November 2021, the airlines have announced a new lounge access agreement for both of their customers.
The lounge access agreement would serve as an opportunity for Kenya Airways business class customers and Sky Team Elite customers (Platinum and Gold) to have exclusive access to the lounge services at the SAA ultra-modern platinum lounge located at O.R Tambo International Airport, Johannesburg.
Kenya Airways’ customers will have two lounge options to select from at the SAA lounges in Johannesburg. Both lounges however provide a serene and comfortable escape from the bustle of the airport, allowing them to freshen up, and have access to complimentary Wi-Fi, entertainment, food and beverages.
According to the Kenya Airways Chief Commercial and Customer Officer, Julius Thairu, “One of the key objectives of the partnership between Kenya Airways and SAA is to create win-win outcomes for customers and deliver exceptional service with a high level of customer satisfaction.
“As air travel begins to pick up, we are seeing customers demanding a more seamless, personalized experience and we will continue working closely as equal partners to ensure that the experience is seamless at every touchpoint.”
The Executive Commercial Officer of SAA, Simon Newton-Smith stated that SAA customers will also have lounge access at the Nairobi airport, thereby signalling the mutually beneficial nature of the strategic partnership.
Kenya Airways and SAA signed a Strategic Partnership Framework in November 2021 to work together in increasing passenger traffic, cargo opportunities, and general trade, by taking advantage of the strengths in South Africa, Kenya, and Africa, and eventually form a Pan-African carrier.
