The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has launched Operation Go Cashless, a new initiative that eliminates cash transactions at airports, beginning with Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, and Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
Rolled out in partnership with Paystack, the contactless payment system takes effect from 29 September 2025. From that date, payments at FAAN’s revenue points, including airport access gates, car parks, and VIP and protocol lounges, will no longer be accepted in cash.
FAAN said the initiative will enhance efficiency, improve revenue assurance, and deliver a better customer experience by enabling quicker, safer, and more transparent transactions. The agency added that the move aligns Nigerian airports with global digital standards.
“To ease the transition, trained brand ambassadors have been deployed at access gates and terminals to guide travellers, assist with onboarding, and answer questions,” FAAN said in a statement.
Passengers can also obtain a FAAN Go Cashless Card at airport access gates in Lagos and Abuja, which can be activated and funded immediately via www.gocashless.faan.gov.ng
