Dubai International Airport (DXB) is bracing for one of its busiest travel periods as the summer holidays wind down and families return home ahead of the new school year. Between this period, the airport expects to welcome more than 3.6 million passengers, averaging 280,000 daily. The single busiest day is expected to have traffic projected to surpass 290,000 travellers.

This surge comes on the heels of a record-breaking first half of 2025. Dubai received 9.88 million international overnight visitors, a six percent year-on-year increase, while DXB itself handled more than 46 million passengers, cementing its place as the world’s busiest international airport.

To prepare for the back-to-school rush, Dubai Airports is working closely with the oneDXB community which includes airlines, control authorities, commercial partners, and service providers to ensure every guest enjoys a smooth and stress-free journey. Families travelling with children over the age of 12 will benefit from Smart Gates to expedite passport control, while guests are reminded to keep passports, boarding passes, and required visas readily available for faster clearance.

The airport also encourages passengers to make the most of the DXB experience by enjoying its lounges, dining options, shopping outlets, and duty-free offerings. With easy access to the Dubai Metro at Terminals 1 and 3, travellers can move conveniently between the airport and the city. Other transport choices include Uber, Careem, RTA taxis, and car rentals, ensuring flexibility for every preference.

DXB has also enhanced support services for People of Determination. These include clearly marked accessibility routes, discreet assistance for guests wearing Sunflower Lanyards, and the dedicated Assisted Travel Lounge located in Terminal 2.

With these measures in place, Dubai International aims to make the end-of-summer rush as seamless as possible for millions of travellers returning to the city or passing through one of the world’s leading aviation hubs.
