Delta Air Lines is enhancing the travel experience for customers on its Lagos–Atlanta route with the deployment of its latest-generation Airbus A350-900 and A330-900neo aircraft. The move comes as the airline prepares to meet the surge in passenger and cargo demand during the winter and holiday travel season.
In a statement released on Sunday, Delta announced that through late November, the route will be operated using a mix of A350-900 and A330-900neo aircraft. From early December, all Lagos–Atlanta flights will be operated exclusively with the Airbus A350-900 — the airline’s flagship long-haul aircraft known for its comfort, technology, and fuel efficiency.
These upgraded operations, the airline said, will continue throughout the winter season to accommodate increased travel and trade activity between Nigeria and the United States.
Mary Gbobaniyi, Manager, Sales, West Africa, Delta Air Lines, said both aircraft types represent Delta’s latest generation of widebody jets, designed to deliver a premium travel experience across the airline’s signature four-cabin configuration — Delta One® Suites, Delta Premium Select, Delta Comfort+, and Delta Main Cabin.
“Deploying our A350 and A330-900neo on the Lagos–Atlanta route for the winter season enables Delta to meet growing customer demand while delivering a premium experience our travellers will love,” Gbobaniyi stated. “The added seat capacity and cargo capability are essential during this period when families reconnect and trade activity intensifies between Nigeria and the United States.”
She described the Airbus A350-900 as one of Delta’s most technologically advanced aircraft, designed for long-haul operations with greater seating capacity, ambient lighting, and quieter cabins to reduce fatigue on extended journeys. The aircraft also offers improved fuel efficiency and expanded cargo space to meet passenger and freight needs during the busiest travel months of the year.
Delta One® customers can look forward to lie-flat seats, chef-curated meals paired with Taittinger champagne, and Missoni-designed amenity kits. Delta Premium Select offers wider seats with deeper recline and enhanced amenities for a more comfortable journey, while Delta Comfort+ provides extra legroom, earlier boarding, and dedicated overhead storage space.
Across all cabins, travellers can enjoy Delta Studio, offering more than 1,000 hours of free seatback entertainment, including movies, TV series, music playlists, podcasts, and games. SkyMiles Members can also access fast, free Delta Sync Wi-Fi powered by T-Mobile.
Delta’s Lagos–Atlanta service provides seamless connections to major cities across North America, reinforcing its position as a leading carrier for transatlantic travel. The airline has served Nigeria continuously since 2007, maintaining a vital link between West Africa and the United States.
With the introduction of the A350-900 and A330-900neo on the Lagos–Atlanta route, Delta continues to raise the bar for international travel, combining cutting-edge technology, premium comfort, and reliable connectivity for its Nigerian and global customers.
