ASKY Airlines has taken a major step in fleet modernization with the arrival of its brand-new Boeing 737 MAX 8, registered as ET-BBB, delivered on March 18, 2025. This next-generation aircraft replaces the retiring Boeing 737-700 NG after 15 years of service, reinforcing ASKY’s commitment to efficiency, sustainability, and passenger comfort.

The Boeing 737 MAX 8 accommodates 8 Business Class and 177 Economy Class passengers, featuring an advanced engine design that significantly reduces fuel consumption, CO₂ emissions, and cabin noise. While speaking, ASKY’s CEO, Mr. Yissehak Zewoldi, emphasized the airline’s focus on sustainability, “This aircraft represents our dedication to a modern, efficient, and eco-friendly aviation industry, ensuring both passenger comfort and fuel efficiency.”

The new aircraft will be deployed across ASKY’s regional network, which spans 29 cities in 27 African countries. The airline, 100% privately owned, is strategically backed by regional African banks and Ethiopian Airlines as its key partner.

With a fleet of 14 aircraft, including 9 Boeing 737-800s and 5 Boeing 737 MAX 8s, ASKY continues to strengthen intra-Africa connectivity while prioritizing innovation and sustainability. The introduction of the Boeing 737 MAX 8 marks another milestone in the airline’s vision for a more efficient, comfortable, and environmentally responsible future.
