Air Peace has appointed Captains James Adaviruku Onipe and Ikechukwu Paul-Ugochukwu as Director of Flight Operations and Chief Pilot, respectively, as the airline strengthens its operational leadership amid continued expansion.
The appointments take effect on November 1, 2026, according to a statement by the airline’s Communications Manager, Efe Osifo-Whiskey.
Onipe, who has nearly 20 years of aviation experience, currently serves as the airline’s Embraer 145 Fleet Manager, Trainer and Check Airman. His experience spans flight operations, pilot training, safety oversight, regulatory compliance and operational efficiency.
Paul-Ugochukwu brings 22 years of industry experience to his new position. He currently serves as a Boeing 777 Type Rating Instructor and Check Airman, with responsibilities that include pilot training, technical proficiency and maintaining operational standards.
The appointments follow the elevation of the outgoing Director of Flight Operations, Captain Augustin Kamano, and former Chief Pilot, Captain Martin Okunpolor, to higher positions within the Air Peace Group.
The airline said the changes reflect its focus on developing aviation professionals, recognising experience and creating opportunities for career progression within the organisation.
Onipe and Paul-Ugochukwu are expected to bring their operational and technical experience to their respective roles as the carrier works to maintain safety standards, strengthen flight operations and support the demands of its growing network.
Air Peace congratulated both captains on their appointments, expressing confidence in their ability to contribute to the airline’s operational objectives and continued development.
