The Federal Government has released a further ₦4.04 billion in severance benefits to 600 former employees of the defunct Nigeria Airways Limited, bringing the number of workers covered by recent payments to 3,300.

The latest disbursement covers the 10th and 11th batches of beneficiaries and follows the ₦18 billion released in September 2026 to settle entitlements for 2,700 former workers in the first nine batches.

Maryann Duke, Senior Special Assistant on Communications and Press Secretary to the Minister of Finance, disclosed the latest payment in a statement on Monday.

According to the statement, the 600 beneficiaries were due gross severance benefits of ₦4.251 billion. After deductions of ₦212.55 million, the net amount released for payment stands at ₦4.038 billion.

The ministry said the payments were being processed in batches following the verification of beneficiaries and their records to ensure that approved entitlements reached the rightful recipients.

It acknowledged the prolonged wait experienced by former Nigeria Airways employees and their families, adding that the government remained committed to resolving legitimate outstanding claims through an orderly and transparent process.

The ministry also said verification procedures were necessary to protect public funds while ensuring that eligible former workers received their approved benefits.

It reaffirmed the government’s commitment to meeting outstanding obligations in line with established procedures and applicable payment processes.
