ASKY Airlines has expanded its fleet with the delivery of two new Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft, boosting its capacity to deepen regional connectivity, improve operational efficiency and support its expansion across Africa.
The aircraft, registered ET-BCJ and ET-BCK, arrived at the airline’s hub in Lomé, Togo, on July 5 and July 16 respectively, increasing ASKY’s fleet to 17 aircraft, including eight Boeing 737 MAX 8s. The additions further reinforce the carrier’s strategy of operating one of Africa’s youngest and most fuel-efficient fleets.
Configured with 16 Business Class and 144 Economy Class seats, the new aircraft are expected to enhance passenger comfort while reducing fuel consumption and carbon emissions, supporting the airline’s commitment to more sustainable operations.
Speaking during a reception to welcome the aircraft, ASKY Chief Executive Officer, Esayas Woldemariam Hailu, described the deliveries as a significant milestone that reflects the airline’s resilience, long-term vision and the confidence of its strategic partners.
He also credited the Government of Togo for its continued support in positioning Lomé as a leading aviation and logistics gateway for West Africa.
According to Hailu, the additional aircraft will improve schedule reliability, increase frequencies on high-demand routes and support the airline’s network expansion, including the launch of a new direct service between Lomé and Kano, Nigeria, scheduled to commence on August 5, 2026.
The new route is expected to strengthen trade, tourism and business travel between Nigeria and the wider West African region while improving access to ASKY’s extensive intra-African network.
Togo’s Minister of Transport, Landlocked Areas Development and Rural Roads, Comla Kadje, welcomed the fleet expansion, saying it aligns with the country’s vision of establishing Lomé as a premier aviation hub in West Africa. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting the airline’s growth and its role in advancing regional integration through improved air connectivity.
With the latest fleet expansion, ASKY is positioning itself to meet rising passenger demand across the continent while enhancing service reliability and advancing environmentally sustainable air transport through the deployment of modern-generation aircraft.
