Delta Air Lines has expanded its premium ground experience at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) with the opening of the first phase of its second Delta One Lounge in Terminal 2, reinforcing its long-term investment in premium travel and positioning the airport as a key West Coast gateway ahead of the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The newly opened 4,000-square-foot lounge, located on the mezzanine level of Terminal 2, accommodates up to 75 guests and offers an intimate, high-end environment featuring elevated dining, premium amenities and a seamless Delta One travel experience. The opening marks the first phase of a wider redevelopment project that will culminate in 2028 with a fully transformed Delta One Lounge.

As part of the expansion, Delta will also open an 11,000-square-foot Delta Sky Club in Terminal 2 in 2027, bringing its lounge footprint at LAX to four dedicated facilities by 2028, comprising two Delta One Lounges and two Delta Sky Clubs with a combined area of approximately 60,000 square feet.

Delta said the investments are part of its broader strategy to enhance premium services across its global network while meeting growing demand for luxury travel.

Vice President of Delta Sky Club and Lounge Experience, Megan Humphreys, said the airline continues to design premium spaces that deliver a consistent Delta One experience while reflecting the unique character of each location.

Unlike the larger Delta One Lounge in Terminal 3, the new Terminal 2 facility focuses on an intimate culinary experience, offering full à la carte dining with locally inspired dishes prepared using fresh California ingredients. Guests are served restaurant-style meals from every seat, with menu highlights including lamb bolognese, hamachi crudo and French onion soup, alongside breakfast options such as acai bowls and huevos rancheros. The lounge also features a premium cocktail programme, locally sourced coffee, fresh juices and smoothies.

Designed to reflect Southern California’s culture, the lounge showcases artwork from seven Los Angeles-based artists and includes expansive airfield views, three shower suites, four cabana-style bathrooms, wireless charging stations and portable monitors for business travellers.

The new facility also forms part of Delta’s end-to-end Delta One ground experience at LAX, allowing eligible passengers to access dedicated check-in and security before being transported directly to the lounge via Delta-operated golf carts.

Delta said the continued expansion of its premium facilities strengthens its position as LAX’s leading global carrier, where it currently operates up to 151 daily departures to 50 destinations. The airline has also expanded its international network with new nonstop services to Hong Kong and Chicago O’Hare, while flights to Vancouver and Newark are scheduled to launch in late 2026 and early 2027 respectively. The investments are expected to further enhance the travel experience as Los Angeles prepares to host the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
