The Federal Government has approved a wide-ranging redeployment of senior directors across Nigeria’s key aviation agencies in what officials describe as a strategic move to enhance coordination, accountability and operational efficiency within the sector.

The directive, issued by the Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development and conveyed in a circular dated February 9, 2026, takes immediate effect. It was signed by the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Yakubu Adam Kofarmata, with the approval of the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development.

The redeployment affects leadership positions within the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet), and the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB). According to the Ministry, the exercise targets sensitive portfolios central to governance, public affairs and consumer protection, finance and accounts, corporate services, human resources, and special duties.

Officials say the move is part of ongoing administrative reforms aimed at strengthening service delivery, reinforcing safety oversight, and promoting stronger inter-agency collaboration across the aviation ecosystem.

Under the new arrangements, several directors were reassigned across agencies to encourage institutional knowledge sharing. Funke Adebayo Arowojobe moves from NiMet to NSIB as Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, while Bimbo Olawunmi Oladeji transitions from NSIB to NiMet to head the same directorate.

In the area of corporate administration, Airohiuodion Henry Omonzogie was redeployed from NiMet to NSIB as Director of Corporate Services, while Baro Henry Minabawarre moves in the opposite direction from NSIB to NiMet as Director of Human Resource and Administration. Within NiMet, Dr. Nasiru Sani was reassigned internally to head Corporate Services.

Financial oversight roles were also restructured. Muonemeh Ndubusi Lotenna moves from NAMA to NSIB as Director of Finance and Accounts, while Dr. Mrs. Okundaye Oke Itohan Folake switches from NSIB to NAMA in the same capacity.

At the NCAA, the Director of Special Duties, Mr. Horatius Egua, was relieved of his appointment and directed to hand over all official responsibilities and assets to the Director-General. Mrs. Augustina Erah, Ph.D., has been appointed to head the directorate, ensuring continuity within the regulatory authority.

The Ministry emphasised that all affected officers must complete seamless handover processes to avoid operational disruptions and maintain accountability. Copies of the directive were forwarded to the heads of the affected agencies for immediate implementation.

Describing the exercise as routine but strategic, the Ministry noted that redistributing experienced directors across agencies responsible for regulation, air navigation services, meteorology and accident investigation is expected to deepen collaboration and improve institutional performance.

Industry stakeholders are now watching closely to see how the leadership realignment influences regulatory effectiveness, safety performance and sector reforms as Nigeria’s aviation industry continues its restructuring efforts in 2026.
