United Nigeria Airlines has announced the commencement of direct flights from Lagos and Abuja to Accra, Ghana, marking its first regional expansion beyond Nigeria. The inaugural service is scheduled to begin on November 10, 2025, connecting passengers directly to Kotoka International Airport, Accra.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the airline described the development as a major milestone in its growth strategy and a bold step toward enhancing air connectivity across West Africa.

Speaking at a media briefing in Lagos, Chief Operating Officer Mazi Osita Okonkwo said the expansion underscores the airline’s commitment to regional integration and service excellence.

“Ghana is an important part of our regional growth plan. This marks our first operation outside Nigeria, and we are truly excited about it,” Okonkwo said. “Over the past four years, United Nigeria Airlines has built a strong reputation for safety, regulatory compliance, exceptional customer service, and on-time performance — values we are committed to extending to all our regional and international routes.”

He added that the new service would strengthen business and leisure travel between both countries while promoting economic and cultural exchange.

“With United Nigeria Airlines now operating on the Accra route, we are expanding travel options for the flying public while proudly flying the Nigerian flag and bridging the gap in regional connectivity,” he stated.

Tickets for the Lagos–Accra–Lagos and Abuja–Accra–Abuja routes are already available for booking via the airline’s website and accredited travel agents.

Okonkwo also disclosed that additional domestic routes, including Abuja–Sokoto and Ilorin, will commence later in November as part of the airline’s broader expansion plan.

Since debuting in 2021, United Nigeria Airlines has steadily grown its domestic footprint, offering reliable services across major Nigerian cities. The new Ghana route represents a key step in the airline’s ambition to become a leading player in West African aviation.
