Olubunmi Kuku, Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), has been elected Vice President of Airports Council International (ACI) Africa, making her a permanent member of the ACI World Governing Board.
Her election was ratified during the 34th ACI Africa General Assembly held in Lusaka, Zambia. ACI Africa represents over 290 airports across 53 countries, advocating for safe, sustainable, and passenger-centric aviation practices across the continent.
With the ACI World Governing Board overseeing about 2,100 airports globally across 169 countries, Kuku’s appointment marks a historic milestone for Nigeria and Africa’s aviation industry.
In her remarks, Kuku described the election as “an incredible honour” and pledged to work with colleagues to ensure African airports meet global standards in safety, efficiency, and connectivity, while also serving as drivers of economic growth.
Under her leadership, FAAN has embarked on transformative reforms, improving infrastructure, compliance, and service quality across Nigerian airports. With her extensive background in aviation and finance, Kuku is poised to address Africa’s unique challenges while creating opportunities for innovation and excellence in the sector.
