Barely weeks after the viral confrontation involving Comfort Emmanson on an Ibom Air flight, another case of passenger misconduct has hit the Nigerian aviation space, this time aboard Enugu Air, the Enugu State government-owned carrier currently operated by XeJet due to the absence of its own Air Operator Certificate.
A video of the incident, widely circulated on social media, shows an unidentified male passenger being forcibly removed from the aircraft and later dragged across the tarmac by three officials. The footage captures chaotic scenes, with background voices urging the man to disembark. The officials eventually released him for dialogue after initial resistance.
The reason behind the passenger’s removal remains unclear, and neither Enugu Air nor aviation authorities have issued an official statement. The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Michael Achimugu, is yet to make any comment on the incident as at the time of publication.
The episode has drawn comparisons to other recent high-profile disruptions, including Emmanson’s clash with flight attendants on an Ibom Air service and the reported altercation between fuji musician Wasiu Ayinde, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, and ValueJet staff at Abuja airport.
Social media users have been quick to weigh in, calling for stricter rules and enforcement against unruly passengers while also questioning the handling of such cases by aviation personnel. One user argued that soft handling of disruptions only fuels further chaos, while another warned that the trend of mid-flight altercations could escalate dangerously if not addressed. Others criticized the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria for the way ground staff handled the situation, calling it embarrassing and unprofessional.
As the video continues to trend, pressure is mounting on Enugu Air and aviation regulators to clarify what happened and adopt firmer measures to deter future misconduct. The incident highlights growing concern over unruly passenger behaviour in Nigeria’s air transport sector and the adequacy of industry responses to such crises.
