A Max Air aircraft with registration number 5N-MBD suffered a tyre burst while landing at Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA), Kano on Tuesday night at 10:57 PM. The aircraft, which had departed Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMA), Lagos, was carrying 53 passengers and six crew members at the time of the incident.

According to sources, the plane lost its nose landing gear tyre upon touchdown, leading to an emergency response. One of the passengers, who spoke anonymously, described the tense moments:

“Immediately after touchdown, the tyre burst and caught fire. The aircraft skidded to a halt on the runway. Firefighters arrived quickly, spraying water to contain the flames.”

Despite the alarming nature of the incident, all passengers and crew were safely evacuated without any reported injuries. However, as of the time of filing this report, officials from Max Air and the Nigeria Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) have not released an official statement regarding the cause of the incident.

Efforts to contact airline representatives and aviation authorities for further details were unsuccessful, as calls and messages remained unanswered.
