The Enugu State Government and Landmark Africa Group have finalized a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) agreement to revitalize and transform the iconic Nike Lake Resort. Under the deal, the state government will provide the resort as an asset, while Landmark will invest an initial N10 billion in the first phase of the partnership, taking charge of its management and operations to restore it to its former glory.
Governor Peter Mbah described the collaboration as a significant step towards achieving his administration’s ambitious goal of growing Enugu State’s economy to $30 billion within six years. Speaking at the signing ceremony held at the Government House in Enugu, Mbah emphasized the strategic importance of the partnership and praised Landmark’s stellar reputation and expertise in the hospitality industry.
“Landmark Group is a recognized leader in the hospitality sector. Your reputation and track record are well-known, and I was delighted when you expressed interest in managing and revamping the Nike Lake Resort. This project aligns perfectly with our vision of connecting the dots to achieve our economic goals,” Mbah stated.
Mbah further assured Landmark of the government’s commitment to creating an enabling environment for investors. He highlighted ongoing infrastructural developments, including the dualization of the Enugu-Opi-Nsukka Road, which will boost accessibility to the resort and attract more investment. The governor noted that the state has allocated N800 billion in 2025 for physical, social, and digital infrastructure, positioning Enugu as a premier destination for business, tourism, and living.
Paul Onwuanibe, Founder and CEO of Landmark Group, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, citing Governor Mbah’s infrastructural achievements, improved security, and the state’s untapped tourism potential as key motivators for Landmark’s investment.
“We are proud to be part of this transformative journey to restore Nike Lake Resort to its past glory. Beyond the initial N10 billion investment, we aim to bring in up to two million visitors annually, create jobs, and significantly increase Enugu’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR). This partnership will yield a big win for the state,” Onwuanibe said.
Landmark plans to enhance the resort’s facilities, boost its value chain, and position it as a key attraction in Enugu’s emerging tourism landscape. The group also reiterated its commitment to creating a seamless partnership that will drive economic growth, attract international visitors, and solidify Enugu’s status as a tourism and investment hub.
Governor Mbah encouraged prospective investors to consider Enugu as a viable business destination, emphasizing that the state remains open for investment and partnership.
