After about five months, the Nigerian Government has finally announced that it will be opening up its skies for international travels.
The Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika who mentioned this via a tweet on Monday evening stated that both Lagos and Abuja airports will be opened for international flights from August 29. This order is similar to what was adopted when domestic flights resumed in the country
In a separate interview, Sirika noted that both airports will start with four flights daily while further details on protocols, procedures, and processes, will be announced in due course.
Also, in a statement released by the Director, Public Affairs, Ministry of Aviation, James Odaudu, the minister noted that with the resumption of international flights, all evacuation flights will end on August 25.
In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Federal Government of Nigeria had earlier in March shut down international airports in a bid to curb the spread of the virus which was ravaging the world.
