Nigerian carrier ValueJet is set to commence daily flight operations between Lagos and Accra on March 30, 2026, marking a significant step in its regional expansion strategy and strengthening air connectivity across West Africa.

The airline confirmed that flights will depart daily from the new terminal at Murtala Muhammed International Airport at 8:00am, with return services leaving Accra at 9:00am. Ticket sales have already opened via the airline’s booking platform ahead of the inaugural service.

The launch follows ValueJet’s recent entry into international operations with its Banjul route and signals a broader push into key regional markets, including planned services to Cotonou and Malabo. The Lagos–Accra route is expected to serve as a cornerstone of the airline’s West African network, connecting two of the region’s busiest economic hubs.

Managing Director, Omololu Majekodunmi, said the new service aligns with the airline’s vision of improving connectivity across the sub-region while supporting trade, tourism and cultural exchange between Nigeria and Ghana. He described the route as a major milestone in ValueJet’s ambition to expand beyond domestic operations and establish a stronger continental presence.

To support its growing network, the airline has recently inducted CRJ-1000 aircraft into its fleet, aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and passenger comfort on regional routes. The expansion is also backed by collaboration with Ghana Airports Company Limited, which is expected to facilitate smoother ground handling and service delivery.

Industry observers say ValueJet’s move reflects a broader trend among African carriers seeking to deepen intra-African connectivity, particularly along high-demand corridors such as Lagos–Accra. While the route offers strong potential for passenger traffic, sustained success will depend on consistent service delivery, competitive pricing and operational reliability.

As the airline ramps up its regional footprint, the new service is expected to provide travellers with more options, while contributing to increased mobility and economic integration within West Africa.
