RwandAir, one of Africa’s fastest-growing airlines, has announced a significant expansion in its operations to Nigeria with the introduction of daily flights to Lagos starting in October 2024. This development was revealed during a recent Sales Forum held at the Celebration Gardens Event Centre in GRA Ikeja, Lagos, which attracted over 100 travel agencies.
The airline’s Regional Manager, Dennis Rwiliriza, shared, “We currently operate five times weekly into Lagos and three times weekly to Abuja from our hub in Kigali. In response to customer demand, we are increasing our capacity by adding two more flights to Lagos. This expansion will provide our customers with greater choice and flexibility, offering seamless daily connections to over 25 destinations across Africa, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, as well as access to over 300 global destinations through our 40 Interline Partners.”
During the event, RwandAir’s Sales Manager, Oladayo Abolaji, highlighted the airline’s robust network, which includes codeshare partnerships with Qatar Airways, Ethiopian Airlines, and Turkish Airlines, covering 74 destinations. He noted that more destinations are expected to be added by the end of 2024.
RwandAir, renowned for its premium services, operates a modern fleet of 14 aircraft, including the A330-300, A330-200, B737-800NG, B737-700NG, Bombardier CRJ-900NG, and Bombardier Q400NG. The airline offers a state-of-the-art Business Class with full-flat bed seats, a customized menu, exceptional privacy, and generous storage space. The Economy Class cabin is equally impressive, featuring spacious seats, personal AVOD screens, USB connectivity, and in-flight entertainment.
Rwanda, the airline’s home country, is positioned as a premier tourism destination, offering visa-free entry for all African Union, Francophone, and Commonwealth citizens. Notable attractions include Akagera National Park, Lake Kivu, and the Kigali Genocide Memorial.
The Sales Forum also featured an interactive session led by Mr. Christopher Isaiah, the Chief Commercial Officer of GHI Assets, RwandAir’s General Sales Agent in Nigeria. Attendees participated in a quiz on the airline’s products, with winners receiving prizes such as aircraft models, tickets, and shopping vouchers. Among the winners were Onyegbula Israel from Quantum, who won an aircraft model, Rotimi Bankole from Wakanow, who received an Economy Class ticket, and Femi Osho from Adonai Travels, who won a Business Class ticket to Kigali.
This capacity increase and the introduction of daily Lagos flights demonstrate RwandAir’s commitment to the Nigerian market, offering travelers more convenient options and connections to key destinations worldwide. The forum provided a valuable opportunity for Nigerian travel agencies to gain insights into the airline’s offerings and strengthen their partnerships with RwandAir.
