Qatar Airways has reached another global first in inflight connectivity with the launch of the world’s first Starlink-equipped Boeing 787-8, while also completing the installation of Starlink across its entire Airbus A350 fleet in December 2025. The milestone positions the airline as the operator of the world’s largest and most advanced Starlink-enabled widebody fleet, having now connected more than 11 million passengers with the fastest Wi-Fi in the sky.

The airline currently operates three Boeing 787 Dreamliners equipped with Starlink, bringing the total number of Starlink-connected widebody aircraft in its fleet to nearly 120. This represents more than 58 per cent of Qatar Airways’ widebody fleet, spanning Airbus A350s, Boeing 777s and Boeing 787s, all offering ultra-high-speed connectivity of up to 500 Mbps.

Qatar Airways’ Starlink programme stands as the fastest and most ambitious widebody rollout in global aviation history. Within just 14 months, the airline successfully completed Starlink installations across its Boeing 777 and Airbus A350 fleets before expanding the technology to its Boeing 787 aircraft. The carrier is also the first in the world to secure Starlink certification for the Boeing 787-8, reinforcing its leadership in long-haul and ultra-long-haul inflight connectivity.

This achievement builds on Qatar Airways’ legacy as the global launch customer for the Airbus A350 and establishes the airline as the world’s first and largest operator of Starlink-equipped A350 aircraft. Voted the World’s Best Airline by Skytrax in 2025 for a record ninth time, the carrier continues to set new benchmarks for passenger experience through innovation and technology.

Since the introduction of Starlink onboard Qatar Airways flights in October 2024, more than 11 million passengers have enjoyed complimentary, gate-to-gate high-speed Wi-Fi. In 2025 alone, Starlink connected over 21 million airline passengers globally, with Qatar Airways accounting for nearly half of that total. More than 10 million of its customers were among the first in the world to experience free, high-speed Starlink connectivity on widebody aircraft operating long- and ultra-long-haul routes.

Passengers onboard Starlink-enabled Qatar Airways flights can stream content, make video calls and work in real time throughout their journey, with connectivity speeds that often exceed home broadband performance. The airline continues to expand the service across its network, with Starlink now available on the majority of flights to destinations in the Americas and Australia, as well as on key routes across Africa, Asia, Europe and the Middle East.

With nearly 120 aircraft already equipped and further installations underway, Qatar Airways remains firmly on course to extend the fastest Wi-Fi in the sky across its global network, reaffirming its commitment to delivering a seamless, connected and world-class travel experience.
