The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has issued an ultimatum to holders of permits for non-commercial flights (PNCF), demanding the submission of their technical logs by August 2, 2024, to avoid sanctions. This directive comes as part of a broader effort to ensure regulatory compliance and address concerns over potential illicit activities involving private jets.
In a letter signed by Olusunmibo Oyerinde, General Manager of Facilitation/Economic Regulation at the NCAA, the authority has requested detailed technical and operational data on each private jet, including journey logs and maintenance records for the past two years. The NCAA’s previous requests for this information had been ignored by many permit holders.
The letter emphasized the importance of compliance, stating: “This is a follow-up on the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority’s previous correspondence regarding the submission of your Tech Log for the past two years. The Authority is yet to receive the required documents from you.”
Operators are required to complete a summary sheet detailing the number of sectors flown per month per aircraft, as specified in the attached PNCF Operations Tech Log Form. Submissions can be made electronically or via scanned copies sent to datrlicensingunit@ncaa.gov.ng. The letter further clarified that failure to comply with these directives will result in the suspension of the operator’s authorization.
This directive follows recent accusations by the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, that some PNCF permit holders have been aiding illicit activities with their jets. The NCAA’s insistence on receiving these records is part of a concerted effort to verify the movements of private jets and ensure adherence to regulatory standards.
For further inquiries, operators can contact the NCAA at +2348039588761. The deadline for submission is Friday, August 2, 2024, and non-compliance will attract stringent penalties, including the suspension of operating authorization.
